Ten years ago when I first saw Hanle, it was a small village with an observatory on one hilltop and an ancient Buddhist monastery on the other.
It still looks the same but now it has some really comfortable home stays and a lot more tourists.
Decades ago it was impossible to get access into this military sensitive zone, now all you need is a special stamp with your inner line permits from the DC office if you are an Indian national.
