After the Sino-Indian war of 1962, a remote valley of Uttarakhand was abandoned and so was the ancient silk route to Tibet.

It won’t be on Lonely Planet, its not that famous among tourists, you need to get to Munsiyari and walk from there. Also, you need permits that can be arranged by some travel agent there.
