Most of my travel plans are made in an instant. When my friend invited me to experience whats it like to drive to the north east, I instantly said yes and started packing. The next morning I dumped two bags of equipment and few clothes in his white Tata Safari and we started our journey from Chandigarh. We drove through ten states, covering a total distance of around 7000km.
These are the places we drove through.
Chandigarh – Delhi – Agra – Varanasi – Bodhgaya – Bhagalpur, Bihar (Craziest stretch) – Siliguri – Guwahati – Dimapur – Kohima – Khonoma – Shillong – Dawki – Mawlynnong – Guwahati – Siliguri – Kalimpong – Gangtok – Kalimpong – Siliguri – Kushinagar – Lucknow – Agra – Delhi – Chandigarh
Here are few pictures from our journey. To my surprize, I met Lama Rockpa from Komic monastery of Spiti at Bodhgaya. He was one of the ten monks to spend the harsh winter at 14500ft at Komic Monastary. I met him while hiking during my winter stay in Spiti for my long term project, Life in Spiti.
Enjoyed your latest post! I hope you will post more photos and more details of your trip. I have been to Meghalaya and hope to get to Nagaland.
