Kotgarh Thanedhar Trip

Three days ago my friend, Nipun invited me to a local mela at Tani Jubbar Lake near his village in Thanedhar-Kotgarh area. I happily accepted the invitation and packed my stuff for the two day trip.

It took only three hours to reach Pamlai Village through Kufri, Theog and Narkanda. This small village of Thanedhar was the home to Mr. Samuel Evan Stokes who later came to be known as Satyanand Stokes.

We then took a bus to reach Tani Jubbar lake ( 7 kms ) where the local mela was to be celebrated, took some photographs and came back in the evening.

The next day we took a walk to Kotgarh village ( 3kms ) through the dense pine forest. Nipun showed me the cave where Samuel Stokes meditated. We reached Kotgarh to see the old church, but were disappointed to see it without the roof ( its being renovated ). We got back to Pamlai and went to see the mela at Tani Jubbar Lake.

Keep an eye on my photoblog for more photographs of the trip.

Cheers :)
